SiMaSeed participates in the European Researchers’ Night – 27th September 2019

On 27th September, the University of Catania hosted the European Researchers’ Night. The event was linked to the SHARPER project – “SHAring Researchers’ Passions for Evidences and Resilience” (https://www.sharper-night.it/).

The team of the Plant Biology section of the DSBGA (Scientific Director Prof. A. Cristaudo) participated in the event by presenting the activities of the Germplasm Bank of the University of Catania (BGS-CT) on ex situ and in situ conservation of spontaneous plant species. In particular, together with the students of the degree course in Biological Sciences he presented the SiMaSeed project (Interreg V-A Italia Malta 2014-2020), its value and contribution in the conservation of seeds of species of community interest.

The event was an important opportunity to describe, through case studies, the BGS-CT experience in biodiversity conservation and an important tool for raising public awareness on conservation issues.
